Charas is probably the rarest of all resins because the production process is very complex – it is made by extracting hemp resin.

It originates in India, and traditionally the resin is obtained by peeling the lower part of the hemp flower while the plant is still fresh. What is left on the plant must then be scraped off and collected in pellets. This process, carried out on a live plant, gives Chara a flavor more similar to that of hemp.
